Florida Memorial University is proud to announce the grand opening of the Center for Entrepreneurship at the Sistrunk Marketplace on Monday.
FMU is the only historic Black university in South Florida, and it now has a business center in Fort Lauderdale’s oldest African American community, which is named after Dr. James Franklin Sistrunk.

Mr. Sistrunk was the co-founder of Provident Hospital which was Broward County’s first Black hospital.
Located at 616 NW 2nd Avenue, Suite 210 in Fort Lauderdale, the FMU Center for Entrepreneurship will serve as a beacon for innovation and economic empowerment in the heart of the Sistrunk community.

The center is designed to provide vital resources to aspiring entrepreneurs with programs that include business forums, coaching, and networking events.
In addition, the center will be an academic support unit within FMU’s School of Business.

FMU has also established an on-campus Genesis Lab located in the Lehman Aviation Building, Room 210, which is a student-centered space offering two professional development pathways, Student to CEO and Student to C-Suite.

Dr. Kenasha Paul is the Director of the FMU Center for Entrepreneurship and the FMU Genesis Lab.
