
Dr. Javeria Farooqi is an Associate Professor of Finance with over a decade of experience in higher education and academic leadership. She currently serves at Florida Memorial University, where she teaches both undergraduate and graduate-level courses. Her teaching is deeply informed by a commitment to inclusive, community-driven financial education. Previously, Dr. Farooqi served as Department Chair of Finance at Lindenwood University, where she coordinated finance programs, led curriculum development, launched an online undergraduate finance degree, and oversaw a $100,000 student managed investment fund. She also served on the university’s retirement investment committee, managing a $37 million 403(b) portfolio and optimizing investment strategies for long-term institutional performance. Her academic and consulting work bridges theory and practice.
Dr. Farooqi’s research focuses on institutional ownership, earnings management, international diversification, Islamic finance, and mutual fund performance. She has published in journals such as the Journal of Investing, Review of Accounting and Finance, International Journal of Accounting, and Quarterly Review of Economics and Finance. Her scholarly contributions are complemented by a passion for mentoring students and advancing equity in finance education. She holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance and an MBA from the University of Texas–Pan American.

Dr. Farooqi contributes her expertise as an Investment Committee Member for the American Muslim Community Foundation, overseeing $9 million in assets under management with a focus on ethical and Shariah-compliant strategies, and she also serves on the Board of Fig Tree Montessori, helping shape an income-based tuition model to expand educational accessibility. Previously, at Lindenwood University, she chaired the finance department, created an online undergraduate finance degree, and established a $100,000 student-managed fund. She also advised on the university’s $37 million retirement plan, optimizing investment strategies, and was recognized as a RISE Scholar for her innovative and inclusive teaching practices. Her professional activities extend to public scholarship, with frequent speaking engagements and guest lectures on financial activism, impact investing, and community wealth-building.
