Why Your Photo Matters

FMU uses ID photos to keep our campus community safe. Every photo is reviewed by Campus Safety before it’s approved — photos that don’t meet the requirements below are rejected and have to be re-uploaded, which slows down your access. Getting it right the first time means faster approval.

Wait for Approval

Campus Safety reviews submissions within 24–48 hours. You’ll get an email when your photo is approved or rejected, and you can always check your status by returning to the upload page and logging in.

Common Questions

My photo was rejected — what do I do?
Check the rejection email or the status page for the reason, fix that specific issue (usually lighting, eyewear, or headwear), and re-upload using the same link. There’s no limit on resubmissions.
Can I use a photo from my phone’s camera roll?
Yes — as long as it meets all the requirements above (clear, centered, neutral background, no eyewear or headwear). A recent, well-lit selfie taken against a plain wall usually works well.
What ID types are accepted?
Driver’s License, State Identification Card, Passport/Visa, or Permanent Residence Card. Your file must be 5 MB (5000 KB) or less.
Is my ID kept on file?
No. Your ID is encrypted in transit and stored only long enough to verify your identity — once your photo is reviewed, your ID upload is deleted from storage.
I didn’t get an email — how do I check my status?
Log back in at the upload link above — your current status (pending, approved, or rejected) is shown on the same page.
